Although the athlete has not yet spoken publicly about the injury, it’s rumored that she is undergoing Tommy John surgery to repair the injury. The procedure replaces the injured tendon with another one from another part of the body to stabilize the elbow. It also improves range of motion and reduces pain.
The news broke during the 2021 CrossFit Games when Brooke Wells dislocated her elbow in an attempt to snatch a 190-pound barbell. After a short time, the athlete’s teammates and doctors confirmed the dislocation. Wells will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair the elbow.
